Welcome – Sr. Cynthia Knowles, MSC
We joyfully welcome the newest member of our pastoral care team –
Sr. Cynthia Knowles, MSC from New Orleans. When asked to share a bit about
her life, she enthusiastically responded:
I was born and raised in Algiers, but most people know it as the Westbank of New Orleans. However, many refer to it as the “best bank of New Orleans!” I received my degree in education from Our Lady of Holy Cross College and my Masters in Religious Education from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. For thirty years, I was privileged to share the lives of young people by teaching religion and math in elementary and high schools in Louisiana and Mississippi. Following those years in teaching, I enjoyed serving for twenty years as campus minister at Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans. After leaving the College, I ministered for three years in pastoral care at Chateau Notre Dame in New Orleans.
Growing up I was strongly influenced by my Dad and two brothers and, at a young age, I became an avid sports fan devoted to the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints. However, the Sisters who have lived with me know that I like to watch any two good teams play – whether it is high school, college or professional! What many people don’t know about me is that I love to listen to light classical music. I find it both inspirational and relaxing.
During my fifty plus years as a Marianite, I have never lived in Opelousas so I am excited and happy about coming and ministering at Prompt Succor and C’est la Vie. I enjoy people and I am looking forward to getting to know the staff, our residents and their families.
Please join us in welcoming Sr. Cynthia!
